When the opportunity to curate my first exhibition was presented to me; I set about reaching out to those artists whose works and lives I admired. I discovered Sue Kreitzman and her works through my love for outsider art. Sue's outrageous creativity captivated me. I was so curious about her. And I was compelled to reach out to her, even though she lived in London and she didn't know me from a can of paint! I wrote Sue Kreitzman a letter telling her about the exhibition I was curating and about myself. I asked Sue if she would allow me to show one or two of her beautiful kimonos or necklaces. Well, I was bowled-over when Sue Kreitzman replied to me two weeks later. Sue responded, "I'd love to do your show! I'm coming home to New York City for the holidays. I'd like to invite you to my studio; then we can talk about what will go best in the exhibition." From there, a whirlwind of creativity, art, connection and the abundant warmth of a new friendship began. Words cannot express how honored I am to have Sue Kreitzman's work in my first exhibition. I look at Sue's work and I am struck by the power of human connection. Never stop reaching out; even when the person seems so very far away. Congratulations on your great success, Sue!!!
